Disciples, Sent by the Spirit

“Merciful God,

You call us to be Your disciples to proclaim the Good News to all we meet. You sent us Your Holy Spirit to guide us as we carry out Your sacred work. Help us to respond to Your people in need through the Archbishop’s Appeal, use our ready hearts and our willing hands to show them the face of Your Son, Jesus. Unite us as one in mind and heart as we work together to build Your Kingdom. Bless us as shepherds of Your good will and fill us with Your Spirit’s gifts.

Help us to remember that, like Peter and Andrew, James, John, Mary Magdalene, and like the Mother of your Son, Jesus, we too are called to be Your Disciples, Sent by the Spirit!

Through this Appeal, may we continue to advance God’s love through charity…

As Catholics in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, we are called to assist and serve our brothers and sisters in their relationships with Christ and His Church. The Archbishop’s Appeal ministry identifies, develops, and acquires the financial resources to support the work of the Archdiocesan ministries. These ministries provide for the spiritual, educational, and material needs of thousands of individuals and families throughout the 19 counties that encompass the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The Appeal supports the people in our community by forming men to serve as priests and deacons to administer the Sacraments of our faith; developing catechists to educate our families in the faith; and serving the needs of the poor, homeless, incarcerated, elderly, hospitalized, marginalized, vulnerable, and those who find themselves in desperate situations. The Appeal is our opportunity, as Disciples of Christ to promote the Gospel message in word and deed. The Appeal is an opportunity for us to serve others through prayer and through our financial gift.

This year, the theme for the Archbishop’s Appeal is “Disciples, Sent by the Spirit.” The goal for the Appeal is to raise $4.5 million throughout and for the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The money will go to support Catholic Social Services, Pastoral Ministry Programs, Evangelization and Outreach Initiatives, Catholic Education, and Religious Vocations.
